Sports Club
The Marsa Sports Club is a non-profit private members’ club run by a Main Committee of Management which has overall control of all the Sections and Ancillary Clubs. The various sections and ancillary clubs in turn have their own Committees responsible for the practise of the relevant sporting discipline. Committee members serve on an honorary basis and are assisted by permanent staff. The United Services Sports Club , as it was known back then , was inaugurated on the 15th August 1902 to provide various sporting facilities, as well as to serve as a recreational centre for the British Forces stationed on the Island. Until 1971 membership for Maltese Citizens was very restricted. However , in 1971, the Club, under the first Maltese Chairman to hold this Honourable post opened its doors to the public and since then the Club has evolved into a multi-sporting complex boasting the only Cricket pitch and Golf Course in Malta.
The facilities also include 19 tennis courts, 5 squash courts, a large swimming pool, billiards tables, croquet, a fitness studio, excellent catering facilities and above all a friendly and wholesome family atmosphere for the 2,500 membership of all nationalities and from all walks of life for most of whom the Club is like a second home. The Club also welcomes several visitors every year and has a generally open doors policy to facilitate entry for prospective members and visitors alike. Welcome to Malta. Welcome to the Marsa Sports Club.
